Abuse in the Name of Treatment
Throughout Southeast Asia, men and women who are caught using drugs are locked away in “rehabilitation” camps where they are routinely tortured and subjected to forced labor. There are an estimated 400,000 people in such camps in China, Vietnam, and Cambodia, alone. These people are placed in camps without ever seeing a judge. Forced detention is happening under the guise of drug treatment, but the people in the centers do not receive any medical care. This video by the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union takes a closer look at these centers.
